The Anglia is a small family car which was designed and manufactured by Ford UK. It is related to the Ford Prefect and the later Ford Popular. The Anglia name was applied to various models between 1939 and1967, although production was halted 1942-1946 during the war. A total of 1,594,486 Anglias were produced and at least until 1953, retained that distinctive narrow grille and "bugeyes".

For consignment, a 1948 Ford Anglia EO4A sedan showing 676 miles, but the true miles are unknown due to a PA title exemption. This little car is now rocking a Blueprint crate 355ci V8 with aluminum heads and a whopping 397 horsepower. Who says good things don't come in little packages?

Exterior
This small car makes a big statement with its two stage Mango Tango paint. The columnal grille openings are flanked by wide front fenders and bugeye round headlights perched on top. Our car has a scoop opened to the cowl giving it some legit street rod fashion. Vents on the side allow engine heat to escape underscored by a sweeping character line that runs from the fender, through the cowl and onto the door. Out back, the distinctive hump is present while teardrop tail lights sit low on the rear fenders. The radical stance is made possible by enormous rear tires mounted on 15-inch Weld Prostar wheels and the whimsical size and color belie this car's serious intent and substantial equipment, as we'll learn. Imperfections include some paint runs, scratches, inclusions, dimples, some cracked fiberglass in front, chips, orange peel, bubbling and rough surfaces.

Interior
Diamond stitched black vinyl begins our tour of the interior, starting on the door panels greet us with a billet door actuator and electric window switch. Black vinyl bucket seats occupy the cabin while some of the diamond stitching makes its way to the wheel tubs and side walls in back. For the driver, a three spoke steering wheel fronts a soft covered dashboard with five gauges positioned across it and a tachometer perched up top. There's a console on the floor with cupholders and storage ahead of the shifter positioned between the seats. Black carpet covers the floor, black material on the headliner, and the storage under the rear hump is dressed in diamond stitched grain vinyl for the crowning touch!

Drivetrain
Fully polished and show ready is the 355ci Blueprint crate V8 with aluminum heads and an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor that help produce 397 horsepower. It's mated to a rebuilt TH350 3-speed automatic transmission that routes power to the Ford 9" rear. Headers are on board and the car runs on a 12 volt system.

Undercarriage
The tubular chassis and components are clean underneath with dual exhaust that run through stainless pipes and side exits. We have disc brakes up front and drums in the back while suspension consists of a Mustang II front end and ladder bars with coil overs in back.

Drive-Ability
Hold on to your mangoes, this thing can tango! There's enormous power driving this small car and massive rear tires holding to the ground. She sounds great and the full sized seats provide a comfortable pilot's perch inside. This compact build is completely functional and we are ready to find a space on the showroom floor. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

Here's a small package that packs a punch. You won't need huge space to store this street rod, but you will need long roads to air it out! It's as whimsical as it is serious, and its small size is sure to be a hit at car shows and cruise nights.
