Stk#051 1951 Chevrolet Business Edition Coupe
This car was built for 2011 Detroit Autorama Ridler award competition and as a result made the Great 8, Street Rodder Magazine in Feb 2012. Builder Derick Samson (Samson Design Missouri) This was a $400,000 build and no expense was spared. Just over 429 miles since built in 2011 and still a brand-new car.
Painted Dupont Premium Brown Metallic, BMW Sepang Silver accents, bumpers, body trim, parking lights. The body is fully smoothed, shaved trim, molded panels, slight stretch, hood, Rockers, deck lid extended, 2/4 inch, nosed and decked front & rear, headlights are late model Dodge lights with new VW Beetle lenses, Cadillac STS taillights, smooth grill with Custom parking lights, shaved doors and trunk with door poppers. Stock frame modified boxed in, Fatman dropped spindles up front. Custom 4-link rear 4-wheel disc brakes. All fuel and brake line plumbing was done in polished copper. Underside of car is smooth and chromed. Brand new full air bag management system, 2-chrome pumps, 5-gallon tank all hidden. Smooth drop rails, all windows tinted. Flush mount rubber on front and back windows, 18" & 20" Billet Specialties Rims, Salt runner staggered polished wheels and Toyo Tires. Custom built gas tank, custom center caps for rims with Business Edition in them and are the same color as car.
The interior still has a 2-seat Business Coupe layout, Stitches interior in Hillsdale, Kansas did the interior. Custom seats are covered in Pretzel color Vintage vinyl with Nostalgic inserts which are carried over into custom door panels and center console. Behind the bench seat is a pair of luggage compartments, combine Coach built class. Custom built console with Lokar shifter and covered to match the seats, the style continues in the trunk where a similar console to hide the gas filler. The circular gauge pod created by McGraw Designs with Classic Instruments gauges, tilt column, custom steering wheel. All wiring is hidden, Lokar gas pedal, custom Billet window handle, Custom Billet door handles, 2 chrome fire extinguishers mounted in floor.
Powered by a 355 Chevy small block engine with one off dual air cleaner setup and alternator shroud, block and heads were ground smooth and polished and chromed bolts, air cleaner feeds a single Edelbrock Endura shine carburetor and intake manifold, custom built General Motors valve covers. The air filter are custom snug fit between the custom smooth inner fenders and firewall. The entire custom exhaust includes polished headers and stainless exhaust pipes and mufflers, 350 Turbo transmission and custom-built driveshaft. '57 Chevy limited slip rear ends with 3:73 gears. Chrome alternator, Billet overflow tank, electric fan. Billet water neck. Lokar dipstick. This car is stunning!
