A desirable Limited Edition 1974 Porsche 914 2.0 Bumblebee,
finished in its factory color combination of Black with Summer
Yellow accents over a Black leatherette interior. Documented by its
Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, the 914 was delivered on
February 1, 1974, and Porsche Cars S.W. of San Antonio, Texas,
originally imported it. Factory equipment includes USA equipment,
sealed-beam headlights, and all-around tinted glass.
The Limited-Edition Bumblebee presentation gives this 914 its
unmistakable character, making it one of the most visually
distinctive configurations offered during 914 production. The
exterior features the LE-style contrast treatment, removable Targa
roof, pop-up headlights, and 15-inch Mahle "Gas Burner" wheels
painted Summer Yellow, mounted with Michelin XZX 165 SR15 tires.
Inside, the cabin is trimmed in Black leatherette with basketweave
inserts and door panels, retaining the simple, functional layout
that defines the 914 driving experience. Beneath, the undercarriage
is solid, rust-free, and remains highly original.
Documentation notes restoration work completed between June 1989
and January 1990. The engine was rebuilt with new NOS 2.0-liter
cylinder heads, new European pistons and cylinders, clutch, seals,
fuel lines, injectors, and fuel-injection sensors. The transmission
received new input-shaft seals, side-shifter seals, and bushings.
The interior was upholstered with a new NOS factory dash top and
carpet, while the remainder of the interior is original. The body
was repainted in black lacquer, wet-sanded and buffed, while the
original undercarriage was cleaned and polished, with hardware
cleaned and/or replaced as needed.
Recent service records support the 914's well-sorted condition. In
September 2020, Don Wise's Autowerks in Campbell, California
performed extensive recommissioning and major service with valve
adjustment, ignition distributor service and PerTronix electronic
ignition installation, fuel-system service, fuel-line replacement,
brake-system service, clutch cable replacement, wiring corrections,
heater-system repairs, shift linkage service, and Targa roof latch
adjustment. On July 17, 2026, Don Wise's Autowerks completed
another major service at 8,820 miles; work included replacing
pushrod tube seals, valve adjustment, oil service, transmission
service, spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, alternator belt, and
the brake master cylinder, with system bleed. Compression readings
were recorded at 132, 134, 134, and 140 psi, and timing and CO were
checked and set.
Mechanically powered by the original 2.0-liter flat-four engine
(Type 039.GA) with fuel injection paired with a five-speed manual
transmission, and four-wheel disc brakes. This 914 2.0 LE delivers
the light, balanced, and communicative driving experience that has
made these mid-engine Porsches increasingly appreciated by
enthusiasts. With its factory-documented Black and Summer Yellow
Bumblebee Limited Edition color scheme, 2.0-liter specification,
detailed restoration history, and recent mechanical service, this
1974 Porsche 914 2.0 Limited Edition represents an appealing
opportunity to acquire one of the most distinctive and collectible
variants of the 914.
