Zoom Classic Cars presents this 1955 Ford F-1 Pickup - AZ truck
that is All-Steel, FE-Powered & Fully RestoredThe 1955 F-1
represents the final year of the first-generation F-Series design
before Ford introduced its substantially redesigned 1956 trucks. By
this point, Ford's F-Series had firmly established itself as one of
America's most important light-duty truck lines. There is something
undeniably appealing about a well-built 1950s Ford pickup, and this
1955 Ford F-1 checks all the right boxes. It has the unmistakable
styling of Ford's mid-1950s pickups, an exceptionally solid and
original steel body, a strong FE V-8 under the hood, automatic
transmission, a beautifully finished oak bed, and is a clean,
usable restoration that has seen fewer than 700 miles since
completion. The current owner purchased this truck more than 10
years ago specifically because of its unusually solid, original
condition. Rather than starting with a rusty or heavily patched
truck, he had an excellent foundation to work with and subsequently
completed a comprehensive body-on restoration. One of the most
impressive aspects of this F-1 is the original steel body. The
truck is extremely solid and, remarkably, has no patch panels. The
original panels remain intact and fit together very nicely, with
excellent alignment throughout. The body was refinished by the
current owner in a period-inspired presentation featuring a classic
black finish accented by 1950s-style striping and flames. The paint
presents in overall excellent condition, with only a few minor
imperfections on the right front fender as shown. All of the
original-style chrome trim and Ford badging remain intact and are
in excellent condition, giving the truck the right amount of period
character without making it look overly customized. The original
wood pickup bed was replaced with a beautiful new oak bed,
providing a striking contrast to the white exterior and completing
the traditional pickup-truck look. Power comes from a rebuilt 352
cubic-inch Ford FE V-8, a member of Ford's legendary FE engine
family. The FE was introduced in the late 1950s and went on to
become one of Ford's most important and enduring V-8 engine
families, powering everything from full-size Fords and trucks to
some of Ford's most celebrated performance cars. The 352 FE
equipped with Holley Carb is particularly well suited to a vintage
pickup. It provides the traditional Ford V-8 sound and plenty of
usable torque while retaining the reputation for durability and
longevity that made the FE family such a mainstay of Ford's lineup.
The engine is backed by a Ford C4 automatic transmission with
column shift, making this F-1 considerably easier and more
enjoyable to drive than a typical original three-speed manual
truck. Additional mechanical features include dual exhaust, a newer
gas tank mounted underneath the truck, and a battery relocated
underneath for a cleaner engine compartment and improved
practicality. Look underneath this truck and you'll find one of its
greatest surprises: an exceptionally clean and rust free
undercarriage. he truck has been fitted with a Volare front-end
conversion, giving it modernized front suspension characteristics
and contributing to the truck's excellent road manners. The
underside is remarkably clean and presents very well, with the
dual-exhaust system and other mechanical components neatly
installed. The interior was completely refreshed during the
restoration and features a new bench seat, headliner and wiring,
along with a set of attractive new Ford chrome gauges. The result is
a simple, functional and appropriately styled interior that retains
the character of a 1950s Ford pickup while providing a much nicer
environment for today's driving. The truck also sits on custom
chrome wheels fitted with newer whitewall tires, giving it a
classic custom-truck appearance that works particularly well with
the white exterior, oak bed and period-style graphics. This is not a
truck that needs to be imagined into something special-it already
is. The truck runs, drives and handles very well. It has the look
and personality of a traditional 1950s Ford pickup, but with the
mechanical upgrades and automatic transmission that make it far
more practical for modern cruising. A handsome, solid and highly
usable example of Ford's iconic F-1 pickup-built to be driven,
enjoyed and admired. Stored in MA with clean title in the owner's
name. Please call Jeff to schedule a viewing of this great F1
Pickup. Thanks for Looking.
