INTRODUCTION: This is the one collectors want: an R-code 428 Cobra
Jet Mach-1 with a Shaker hood and 4-speed! It was taken down to a
bare shell, put on a rotisserie, and thoroughly restored with
photos documenting the process. It's also well documented with its
original invoice, Marti Report, and miscellaneous receipts. One of
only 264 produced in this color combination!
EXTERIOR: The 1970 Mach 1 SportsRoof is unquestionably one of
Ford's greatest designs- aggressive, muscular, and instantly
recognizable. This one was taken all the way down to a bare shell,
mounted on a rotisserie, and beautifully restored in its original
Medium Gold Metallic. The metallic is laid out evenly beneath the
clear coat, and the finish has been polished smooth like glass. The
blacked-out hood treatment gives it the unmistakable Mach 1
attitude, complete with a functional Shaker Ram Air scoop rising
through the hood, 428 callouts, and racing style hood locks. It
also features sport mirrors and the distinctive honeycomb rear tail
panel with new taillights. The windshield has been replaced, along
with the weatherstripping, and the chrome and exterior trim appear
to have been replaced as well. Finishing off the look is a brand
new set of Magnum 500 wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich tires.
INTERIOR: It features the desirable sport Interior, starting with
high back bucket seats that have been reupholstered and new molded
door panels. The woodgrain trim stretches across the dash and looks
fresh, while the dash pad itself is mint. Even the Rim Blow
steering wheel horn works. A retro stereo fits neatly in place of
the original radio, while the heater controls, knobs, center
console, and quartz movement clock all look great. Interior lights
are working, and fresh carpeting includes sewn in floor mats. Best
of all, rising from the console is a Hurst 4-speed shifter topped
with the classic T-handle- exactly what you want to be gripping in
a 428 Cobra Jet Mach 1. Overhead, the headliner and visors have
also been completely refreshed. Overall, it's a fresh and tidy
presentation.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Stuffed between the shock towers is the
legendary 428 Cobra Jet, and the entire engine compartment has been
restored and detailed to look much like it did when new. The engine
bay features clean metal finished in smooth black, and the original
buck tag is still in place. The 428 runs strong and retains a very
authentic appearance with stock exhaust manifolds, finned aluminum
valve covers, and even date coded reproduction spark plug wires.
The cooling system is properly detailed with the correct style
radiator and cap, Autolite hoses, and reproduction clamps. The
washer bottle and related components are in place, the battery is
properly secured, and it's also equipped with power brakes.
Overall, this is a very clean, highly detailed engine
compartment.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The attention to detail continues inside the
trunk. Under the trunk lid, the jambs, and throughout the
compartment is pristine metal finished in the same glossy Medium
Gold Metallic as the exterior. The weatherstripping has been
replaced, and a fresh trunk mat finishes off the clean, restored
appearance.
UNDERSIDE: The bare body shell was placed on a rotisserie during
the restoration, allowing the underside to be restored to
exceptional factory correct condition. The floors and frame rails
are pristine, finished in red oxide primer with the proper
overspray patterns just as they would have appeared leaving the
factory. The Competition Suspension and steering system have been
completely rebuilt. Just got a front end alignment It retains a
correct-style dual exhaust system featuring a crossover pipe,
factory-style mufflers, and the proper tips exiting through the
rear valance. The fuel system has been replaced, along with the
brake system, which includes front disc brakes, rear drums, all new
lines, and a functioning emergency brake assembly. Looking up at
the drivetrain, the engine is detailed in correct Ford Blue and
paired with the original Toploader four-speed transmission with its
tag RUG AZ new clutch the flywheel was cut repair the reverse light
switch. The driveshaft leads back to the desirable Ford 9-inch rear
end, completing a highly authentic and beautifully restored
underside.

CONCLUSION: You won't find too many fresher than this one! With
very few miles since its restoration, this is a gorgeous, highly
desirable and well documented R-code Mach 1. The 428 Cobra Jet,
Shaker and 4-speed check all the right boxes- this is one serious
