This 1971 Mercury Cougar XR7 hardtop is powered by a 429 4V Cobra
Jet engine with Ram Air induction, factory-rated at 370hp and
backed by a four-speed Toploader manual transmission with a Hurst
shifter. This survivor is equipped with power steering and power
front disc brakes. The exterior is finished in Bright Blue Metallic
and has received one repaint. Exterior equipment includes racing
mirrors. The interior features leather high-back bucket seating, a
tachometer cluster, an electric rear-window defroster and an AM
radio. The original Protect-O-Plate, a Ford Motor Company of Canada
Limited window sticker, a Ford Factory Authentication letter and
documentation from the Cobra Jet Cougar Registry are included. The
registry documentation states that 401 hardtops were produced and
15 are known to exist, with this vehicle identified as the 16th. It
was originally delivered to Canadian Traction at 286 Wyecroft Road
in Oakville, Ontario.
