For consignment, a 1949 Chevrolet 3100 ton pickup truck showing 3,074 miles title verified actual miles. According to the detailed tome, 1949 Chevrolet Engineering Features, "1949 Chevrolet trucks are no longer called Thriftmaster and Loadmaster, but are identified by the number of the series to which they belong, (3100, 3600, 3800, 4100, etc.)". More than 20 pages identify all the changes and new features of the '49.

Exterior
Kept out of the rain for most of its life, the two stage Fathom Green paint shines bright, augmented by the five bar chrome grille up front and large Chevrolet nameplate on the nose. A black running board forms a step on the bridge between the flared fenders under which body colored 15-inch wheels wear a red lettered hubcap and beauty rings around the rim. In classic font, Chevrolet is outlined on the tailgate with white paint while bed rails extend the bed's height and advertise Orchard Hills Farm. The solid rear window overlooks an oak lined bed with green rails in very nice condition. Imperfections are few and include surface scuffs and a few chips. The body, paint, trim and wood are all in fantastic condition.

Interior
A brown panel under the door hardware rests in a gray colored base, the saddle door pulls are a nice touch, and both doors present cleanly leading to a grain vinyl bench seat in brown, also in very good shape. Up front, a standard 3 spoke steering wheel shows a few hairline cracks but otherwise clean and intake, fronting two main gauges, classically configured with art deco font. Clean ribbed pattern chrome then covers the rest of the dashboard with stunning, scratch free surfaces. Even the rubberized floor covering is ready for show and houses the floor mounted shifter and classic pedals. Smooth vinyl finishes the ceiling.

Drivetrain
Keeping the show worthy theme going is the spotless 235.5ci inline six cylinder under the hood. It's fueled by a 1-barrel carburetor and rated at 123 horsepower. A 4-speed manual sets the truck into motion and routes power through 4.11 gears at the rear axle. The original configuration includes the six volt system.

Undercarriage
You know things are good when spider webs and a single drop of oil are the only things that veer from near perfection underneath! It's super clean here and you'll find a single exhaust through a stock style muffler, drum brakes all around, and leaf springs front and rear.

Drive-Ability
The former work truck turned show horse carries us around the test loop with fine power, a clean interior, and handling as it was in 1949! We note the throwout bearing making a bit of noise and the wipers and horn are not working, but all other functions on this simple and clean rig work as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

Once the ubiquitous backbone of the working class are now ultra classic and collectible. Find us someone who doesn't turn their head when seeing one of these out in the wild and we'll show you someone who spends too much time staring at their phone! Be that as it may, this is a solid classic truck in a great color inside and out for those in the market.
