The 1967 Jeep CJ-5 was part of the highly successful CJ-5
generation that Jeep produced from 1954 through 1983. Based on the
military M38A1, the CJ-5 was designed as a civilian version of the
rugged four-wheel-drive Jeep and became known for its simple
construction, compact dimensions, and excellent off-road
capability. In 1966, Kaiser-Jeep introduced the 225 cubic inch
Dauntless V6 as an available engine option, giving the CJ-5
considerably more power than the four-cylinder engines previously
offered. The Dauntless V6, along with the CJ-5's durable drivetrain
and short wheelbase, helped make these Jeeps popular with both
recreational off-road enthusiasts and those looking for a capable
utility vehicle. Today, the CJ-5 is highly regarded by collectors
for its classic Jeep styling, rugged character, and connection to
the early history of the civilian Jeep.
