With the popularity of foreign, performance luxury cars growing in
the U.S. car market in the late 1960's and early 1970's, the
American based automotive companies needed to introduce models that
balanced luxurious convenience options with solid performance
capabilities. Pontiac's answer to this was the Grand Am. Born from
a mix of the Grand Prix's luxury options and performance options
from the Trans Am, the Grand Am was built to compete against these
ever popular luxury performance coupes. This 1973 Pontiac Grand Am
is an excellent, unrestored example of the introductory year for
the Grand Am with 55,000 original miles showing on the odometer.
This Pontiac Grand Am shows very well, finished in its factory
correct, white exterior paint. The Pontiac's White exterior shines
very well and is in very good condition throughout with only minor
defects present. Complimenting the Grand Am's White exterior is its
factory chrome and stainless trim, factory "6.5L" and "Grand Am"
emblems, period correct Red, White and Blue pin stripes, optional
NACA duct hood and a set of PMD rally wheels wrapped in Custom All
Season radial tires (dated 2024). This beautiful Pontiac Grand Am
retains its original Oxblood Red vinyl interior that is in
excellent condition throughout with the exception of some worn
cording on the outside of the driver seat. Powering this great
Pontiac is its numbers matching 400 cubic inch V8 backed by its
numbers matching Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed automatic
transmission. Both the engine and transmission perform extremely
well and have no issue pulling this Pontiac down the road with
ease. This Grand Am delivers a great V8 sound thanks to the 400
cubic inch V8 breathing through and aftermarket dual exhaust setup.
This first year Grand Am is nicely equipped with factory options
such as: power steering, power front disc brakes, air conditioning
(in-op), AM/FM radio, remote driver side sideview mirror, power
driver seat, tilt steering column, cruise control (in-op),
heater/defrost, and variable speed wipers. If you are in the market
for a rarely seen piece of Pontiac history that runs/drives just as
it should and would present very well at your local cruise-in or
car show, then you will not want to miss out on this gorgeous 1973
Pontiac Grand Am.
