For Sale: 1963 Chevrolet Corvette in Morgantown, Pennsylvania

Vehicle Description

1963 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe

"The process of successful car production prioritizes efficiency and cost above all else, so has a habit of quickly ironing out a new car's quirks, intricacies or even defining details. In-period changes were usually attributed to streamlining the production process, while other enhancements were meant to enhance the car's reliability, improve its performance or keep it up to date in a fast-changing world."Hagerty.co.uk"Early Quirks Made These 9 Cars the Holy Grails of Collectors"

For consignment, a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe showing 14,839 miles but true miles are unknown. This is a numbers matching example that was the recipient of a ground up restoration. Ladies and gentlemen, for your consideration, the Holy Grail of the collector market, (and the only American to make Hagerty's 2021 list of nine Holy Grails).

Exterior
The two stage Sebring Silver is nearly flawless among many changes, the iconic coves of the '62 are replaced with fender vents, a pair of functional horizontal indents on each side, appearing only on the '63 and '64 after which they became vertical. These vents are mirrored stylistically on the C-pillar which borders the curved rear window; that window is one of two of course, half of the one year only split window feature and the main reason this car is beyond iconic. Up front, the faux cooling vents flanking the central rise is a one year only design once again adding to the model's mystique. 15-inch Knock off wheels hint at the brand's racing heritage, here wrapped in 205/75R15 tires with an early 2017 date code. The paint and trim are exceptional with the bumpers presenting as proverbial mirrors that reflect the quad tail lights and other body parts. Imperfections noted include a blemish under that rear wrap around bumper, inclusion on the opposite side, chips under the front corner and front apron, revealing silver underneath.

Interior
The black door panels with their polished hardware and red reflectors could be photographed and framed for display on their own! Inside, the black leather bucket seats are soft and supple with some ever so slight wrinkling on the driver's seat but otherwise perfect. The stuff of dreams continues up front where the double arched dashboard houses symmetrically placed gauges ahead of the driver and black steering wheel, and a silvery panel on the glove box ahead of your guest and it's all in fantastic condition. We do note a crack in the dash pad, the material of which flows seamlessly to the center stack holding a clock, some chrome knobs, and the vertical AM/FM radio. A grooved metal trim plate tops the center console where the shifter resides along with the shift map and power window switches over very nice black loop carpet that extends cleanly to the rear cargo area. Above, the headliner displays with a few small holes.

Drivetrain
Under that epic hood is the numbers matching 327ci L84 V8, rated at 360 horsepower and fueled by a 4-barrel carburetor. The fuel injection system comes with the car along with the distributor. Mated to the engine is the numbers matching T10 4-speed manual transmission sending power to the original rear axle with 3.08 gears and Positraction. The car is equipped with power steering and air conditioning.

Undercarriage
A true mix of spotless components and those that show some use through typical metal oxidation and residual oil. Here we find dual exhaust through chambered mufflers and exiting in epic fashion through the rear valance and polished tips. Drum brakes are at all four wheels and suspension consists of coil springs up front and transverse leaf springs with tubular axle driveshafts in the back, making both sides independent.

Drive-Ability
Our touch is gingerly, but our test is thorough and this '63 runs through the loop without issue, sounding great, tracking straight, and with handling that was touted for its prowess back in the day as America's true sports car. All functions on board this clean Corvette operate as they should and it's into the showroom we go! While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

For the discerning collector, a fine 1963 Corvette "split window" Coupe in fantastic condition and awaiting its next caring steward. We look forward to meeting you.
