The Woodward Dream Cruise has become one of the most important
celebrations of American car culture, and in 1997 Ford Motor
Company and ASC created a very special Mustang to commemorate the
event. Just 58 SVO Woodward Dream Cruise Edition Mustangs were
produced, making them among the rarest special-edition SN95
Mustangs of the era. This example is one of those 58 cars and shows
an incredible 2,848 original miles since new, preserving an
important piece of modern Mustang and Detroit automotive
history.
Built specifically for the 1997 Woodward Dream Cruise, the package
began with a Mustang GT and received a distinctive group of ASC and
SVO upgrades. The cars were finished in Crystal White with Razor
Blue Shelby-style racing stripes and fitted with special
commemorative badging, unique exterior details, and a numbered dash
plaque identifying the limited-edition car number and date.
Power comes from Ford's 4.6-liter SOHC V8 paired with a five-speed
manual transmission and limited-slip differential, giving this
Mustang the right drivetrain for an enthusiast-focused special
edition. A specially tuned BORLA stainless steel side exhaust
system is one of the defining features of the package and gives the
car a much more aggressive sound and appearance than a standard
Mustang GT.
The Crystal White exterior is set off by the Razor Blue racing
stripes, Shelby-style quarter-panel air intakes, chrome hood pins,
commemorative Woodward Dream Cruise fender badges, and white
powder-coated 17-inch aluminum wheels. The original Goodyear Eagle
ZR45 tires are still installed, an impressive preservation detail
considering the car's exceptionally low mileage, although they
should be replaced before any serious road use due to age.
Inside, the Gray leather cabin is equipped with Preferred Equipment
Group 249A and features the Mach 460 premium sound system, AM/FM
cassette stereo, compact disc player, air conditioning, power
steering, power windows, power door locks, remote keyless entry,
cruise control, anti-theft system, and fog lamps. The
limited-edition dash plaque remains in place, adding an important
identifier and another layer of collector appeal.
The car also benefits from power four-wheel disc brakes,
independent front suspension, and Ford's four-link rear suspension,
giving it the familiar road manners of a Mustang GT while the
ASC/SVO modifications add a far more distinctive personality. This
example was sold new at Village Ford in Dearborn, Michigan, making
its connection to the Detroit area and the Woodward Dream Cruise
even more fitting.
What makes this Mustang especially significant is just how limited
production was. With only 58 Woodward Dream Cruise Edition Mustangs
produced, this is a car that even many longtime Mustang enthusiasts
have never seen in person. The combination of ASC/SVO upgrades,
commemorative styling, five-speed manual transmission, and
exceptionally low mileage makes this example particularly
desirable.
With only 2,848 original miles, rare ASC/SVO equipment, a
five-speed manual transmission, original tires, special-edition
badging, and direct ties to one of America's most famous automotive
events, this 1997 Ford Mustang GT SVO Woodward Dream Cruise Edition
is an exceptionally rare modern collectible. It offers serious
Mustang provenance, unique styling, and the kind of production
rarity that makes it a standout addition to any Ford or
performance-car collection.
