For Sale at Auction: 1956 Chevrolet Corvette in Las Vegas, Nevada

Vehicle Description

This custom 1956 Chevrolet Corvette roadster nicknamed "Basket Case" is powered by a C5 Corvette LS1 engine with a polished Weiand/Holley intake, NX nitrous oxide, Street and Performance pulleys, air cleaner and headers, Ecklers carbon-fiber engine covers and stainless-steel engine trim fabricated by Time Machines. The engine is backed by a 4L60E automatic transmission with a shortened torque tube and driveshaft. The original 1956 side rails retain the stamped VIN. The front suspension features Jim Meyer Racing control arms, SIO spindles modified by Baer Brakes, a Flaming River steering rack, Borgeson joints and coilover shocks. The rear incorporates custom fabrication, C5 Corvette suspension, four coilover shocks and narrowed C5 axles. Additional equipment includes stainless-steel brake and fuel lines, a transmission cooler, stainless-steel exhaust and Flowmaster mufflers. Stopping is handled by Baer front brakes with 12-inch rotors and C5 rear calipers with 14-inch Baer rotors. Designed by Jack Barnett with approximately 100 body modifications, the roadster features a chopped, laid-back frameless windshield, smoothed cowl, reversed and opened hood humps, a front end lengthened 2.5 inches, molded and frenched-in headlight rings, smoothed valances, a molded grille-opening molding, a 1962 nose emblem floated in the grille opening, turn signals integrated into the headlights, reshaped wheel openings and molded-in taillights. The bumpers, exterior chrome, stainless trim, parking lights, fake brake vent and gas filler were removed, while the inner fenders, firewall and underbody areas were reshaped or smoothed. It rides on Colorado Custom Alcatraz 18x8 front and 20x12 rear wheels. The interior features a straightened and smoothed dash with a Dakota Digital cluster made from the original speaker grille bezel and steering-column bezel, relocated to a fabricated center console. Additional features include an Ididit tilt steering column, Colorado Custom steering wheel, hidden switches and controls, billet pedals and shifter, molded door-panel coves and black leather upholstery by Ultimate Interiors. The power-operated trunk houses a stainless-steel fuel cell and Sony audio amplifier. Other equipment includes a remote-operated hood fabricated by Time Machines, an electrically operated rear license plate, a polished aluminum radiator and Sony audio system.
