Classic Cars of Sarasota is proud to offer this charming 1951
Willys Jeepster, a unique piece of American automotive history that
blends the rugged heritage of the Willys Jeep with the style and
personality of a classic convertible. Finished in White with a new
Black canvas top and a White and Black vinyl interior, this
Jeepster is ready to enjoy.
Designed by renowned industrial designer Brooks Stevens, the
Jeepster was created as a two-wheel-drive sporty convertible
intended to bridge the gap between the utilitarian Jeep and the
traditional passenger car. Unlike later Jeep models, the Jeepster
was designed primarily for the road and featured classic
convertible styling, a split windshield, and removable side
curtains.
Power comes from a 161 CI 6-cylinder engine producing approximately
75 horsepower, equipped with a single-barrel carburetor and backed
by a 3-speed manual transmission with column shift
("3-on-the-tree"). The engine has recently been rebuilt, adding
confidence to this already enjoyable vintage cruiser.
Recent work includes a new Black canvas convertible top and side
curtains, new tires, replacement of all rubber spring bushings, and
a new overdrive switch. The classic presentation is completed with
Willys chrome dish hubcaps, wide whitewall tires, chrome bumpers,
and a clean, period-correct appearance.
Inside, the White and Black vinyl interior features seat belts and
an AM radio, while the removable side curtains provide the
authentic open-air experience that makes the Jeepster so
distinctive. An owner's manual is included. The 1951 Willys
Jeepster is a rare and distinctive American classic with a
personality all its own. With its recently rebuilt engine, new top
and side curtains, fresh tires, and iconic open-air styling, this
Jeepster is ready for weekend cruising, local car shows, and plenty
of attention wherever it goes.
