For Sale: 1995 Lexus SC300 in Morgantown, Pennsylvania

Vehicle Description

1995 Lexus SC300 Coupe

"Following the debut of Lexus in 1989, Toyota's luxury brand sent the SC300 and SC400 sports cars to dealers for the 1992 model year. Sleek and refined, the two doors made an impact-an SC landed on our 10 Best list from 1992 until 1995. Built through the 2000 model year, first gen SCs have flown under the radar for decades. But with increasing interest in '90s vehicles, particularly Japanese cars, these Lexus coupes should soon rise in value." Car and Driver, What to Buy, April 2022

For consignment, a 1995 Lexus SC300 coupe showing 8,384 miles, but the true miles are unknown. This one's been converted by a Toyota master tech with a 2JZGTE JDM motor twin turbo inline six cylinder and is claimed by our consignor to put out 400 horsepower. Just in case you need to know more, we've included the following.

Exterior
Platinum Silver Metallic coats this straight, original car and subtle, silver badging is reserved for the rear and the distinctive Lexus L on the nose. Flush mounted headlamps and fog lamps keep things aerodynamic on the rounded nose and as a luxury brand, a sunroof is on the roof just before the rear sloping window perfectly mirrors the slant of the windshield. In back, flush mounted wraparound tail lights hover over the body matching neoprene bumper and aftermarket exhaust tips. Acura 5 spoke wheels add a sporty touch and are wrapped in 45 series ZR rated tires. Imperfections include a good bit of patina throughout that includes scratches, chips, flex cracking, scuffs, peeling clear, staining at gas fill, dings on top of driver's door and rocker, and fading. Please refer to the detailed photographs.

Interior
A touch of luxury is included on the black leather door panels in the form of wood accenting, showing a crack on the driver's side and a cut in the leather header on the passenger's side. Charcoal black power leather bucket seats present in nice shape as does the 2+2 seating in back. The handsome control center starts with a very nice steering wheel that was so good, it was a Lexus staple for many years, fronting a black instrument cluster under an arching dash pad and it illuminates with sporty blue backlighting. Under an ornamental wood mid panel is the center stack that houses the integrated A/C panel and AM/FM/CD radio connected to the CD changer in the trunk. A straight shifter is specific to this SC generation and resides in a black trim plate over charcoal carpet and Lexus branded mats. The gray formed headliner, visors, and overhead console are in nice shape and so is the trunk that's fully finished with gray cloth paneling.

Drivetrain
Fitting perfectly under the hood, even with the extra piping, is a 3.0 liter DOHC 2JZGTE twin turbo inline six cylinder putting out 400 horsepower according to our consignor. It's mated to an A340E 4-speed automatic transmission that routes power to the rear axle with 4.27 gears.

Undercarriage
Things are generally clean underneath with some typical surface rust and patina. The single exhaust travels through a tunnel, then splits to find stock style mufflers and exit as two tips that emerge out back. Power disc brakes are on all four wheels with Wilwood being employed on the fronts. The fully independent suspension includes Tein adjustable coil overs.

Drive-Ability
A few blips of the throttle and some boost, and you'll be saying "my get up and go got up and went!" with enthusiasm, of course! There's good, smooth, power here, straight tracking, and very good handling. Plus, nobody does interiors like Lexus so you'll be comfortable while cruising! There's a tad more exhaust note than your average "stock" SC from the era, but that's expected. Other than the fog lights, all functions operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

It already shares its platform with the MKIV Supras, so SC's were known as the "poor man's Supra" and now with twin turbos under the hood, it shares more than just a base configuration. We'll put this one in the sleeper category because although SC's were quick and nimble, they weren't highly regarded as formidable sports cars. This one changes the game!
