Extensively restored Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Convertible
When Volkswagen introduced the Karmann Ghia in 1955, the no-nonsense engineering of the Beetle finally received the makeover it deserved. The design came from the Italian coachbuilder Ghia, while the German coachbuilder Karmann from Osnabrück took care of the construction. That combination resulted in a car that drove like a Volkswagen but looked like an Italian sports car. From 1957 onwards, the Convertible was added, featuring a beautifully styled, fully retractable top that left the elegant lines of the coupe completely intact. This 1971 Cabriolet is powered by the famous air-cooled 1600cc four-cylinder boxer engine, coupled to a four-speed manual gearbox: a powertrain that has amply proven its reliability and gives this open-top Volkswagen a wonderfully relaxed character.
