DESCRIPTION:
Up for sale from a private estate is this beautiful 1933 Packard Club Sedan Model 1005 powered by the original 445 cu. in. 160 horsepower V12 and backed by a 3-speed manual transmission. This is a true survivor and one of only 535 built. The known history of the car started in September of 1933 when it was sold through Earl C. Anthony’s dealership in California. Not much else is known until the car resurfaced for sale in the LA Times in 1979 as one of five which were known to be in existence.

An artist and car collector (Ron Lawless) in the Altadena, CA area purchased the decrepit Packard and started a 10-year ‘nut & bolt’ total restoration on his own which was completed in the late 1980’s. It was held by Mr. Lawless for the better part of 40 years during which time in 1989 received a National First Prize and Senior Badge at the CCCA Grand Classic in California and even as late as 2009 the car was still being shown and winning concourse awards.
It was then purchased by the present owner in 2023 from a dealer in St. Louis, MO. The aged appearance and patina which appears on this Packard shows the true love the owner has for originality. View all photos carefully.
The lacquer paint is still very shiny, and all the chrome is in excellent condition. All the lights appear to function, including the Packard ‘road lights’. The twin side-mounted spare tires, chrome luggage rack, and Packard emblems are all in very good condition.
As you can hear in the video, the V12 retains its Packard green paint with chrome hardware and runs as quietly as it did when new. The only other sound comes from the addition of an electric fuel pump added by the current owner.
The interior looks the same as when it was initially restored with wood around the windows and wood-grain finish on the metal parts.
The chassis and suspension appear to still be in excellent condition and could easily be brought back to show condition with a little TLC and elbow grease.
Total estimated mileage driven in 3 years is less than 300 miles.
