For Sale: 2001 BMW Z3 in Springfield, New Jersey

Vehicle Description

Intro

2001 BMW Z3 3.0i Roadster, Steel Gray Metallic over Black Classic leather interior, black soft convertible top, owned by seller (5th owner) since 2014. It has the desirable 3.0-liter M54 inline six mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and shows 92,213 miles. This car was found in 2010 after a nationwide search by the seller's close friend, who had always wanted a Z3 in exactly this color and configuration. When that friend passed away, the seller purchased the car from his estate in 2014. It is now offered on Collector Chassis only because the seller is downsizing his collection. The Carfax reports front end damage in 2007. It has a clear title and is Virginia.

Exterior

The exterior is Steel Gray Metallic with a black convertible soft top, integrated fog lights in the front and dual chrome exhaust tips in the rear. Seller states the car is in excellent condition with only a few minor stone chips, is virtually rust-free and retains the original soft top still in very good shape. It has staggered 17-inch alloy wheels 17x7.5” in the front with 225/45 ZR17 tires and 17x8.5” wheels in the rear with 245/40 ZR17 all wrapped in Continental Extreme Contact tires. The last major service included new brakes, calipers and brake pads all around.

Interior

The interior is black classic leather with heated seats, BMW M Sport steering wheel, ski bag and Harmon Kardon Sound with BMW Business CD. It has wood accents on the console and automatic shift knob. All gauges work with no dead pixels.

Mechanicals

This 2001 Z3 3.0i is powered by the M54B30 3.0-liter (2,979 cc) DOHC 24-valve inline six with double VANOS variable valve timing, producing 225 horsepower at 5,900 rpm and 214 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 rpm. In a roadster weighing under 3,000 pounds, it is good for 0–60 mph in under six seconds, which is why the seller calls it a rocket ship. Seller states “as far as I can tell the car needs nothing” and has been meticulously serviced throughout its life.

Seller Comments

I am downsizing my collection and the hardest car to give up will be my 2001 BMW Z3. A very good friend always wanted a Z3 and asked me to help him find one. We searched the U.S. for the right color and configuration and in 2010 we found this one. When he passed away, I couldn't let it go to anyone else, so I bought it from his estate in 2014. I have put more miles on it than any of my other collector cars. The Z3 is so much fun to drive, and the performance of the 3.0-liter inline six in such a light car makes this thing a rocket ship. I have had so much fun in this car that it will be sad to let it go, but my age makes this a necessity. I hope whoever gets this car will enjoy it as much as I did.

Additional Seller Comments

The Carfax shows five owners, but realistically two of those were selling dealers. The Carfax also reports one accident in 2007 in which the spoiler, radiator, and grille area were replaced. The seller states it was repaired perfectly and there are no visible signs of the past damage. The car is virtually rust-free, the underside is bone dry, and it has been serviced throughout its life. The A/C blows cold and the car is ready to enjoy.
