Among the most elegant post-war Rolls-Royces is the Silver Cloud II Drophead Coupe by H.J. Mulliner, design number 7504. Introduced very late in Silver Cloud I production, the car quickly became one of the most desirable of the various coach-built Silver Clouds. This continued with the introduction of the Silver Cloud II in September 1959. The updated car came equipped with an all-new aluminum 6.2L overhead-valve V8 and was offered in two wheelbases, with or without standard steel bodywork. Production totaled around 2,782 examples, of which only 107 were made in Drophead Coupe configuration. Of those, only 74 are known to have been made in left-hand drive.
Drophead Coupes were hand-built by H.J. Mulliner and showcase a distinctive, two-door profile. Equipped with essentially every luxury feature as standard, celebrities and wealthy business owners who could afford the privilege found the cars to be essentially without equal, combining the traditional Rolls-Royce ride with open-air driving pleasure. The Silver Cloud II’s V8 ensured performance was more than adequate, with power brakes and steering ensuring the driving experience is exceptional.
The investment-grade 1961 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II Drophead Coupe featured here is finished in stunning Mason's Black over a gorgeous Beige leather interior surrounded by magnificent Burled Walnut woodwork throughout with a matching Beige power convertible top. This exceptional US-market example is one of just 74 coach-built drophead coupes produced in left-hand drive and has been subject to a beautiful restoration by marque specialists, Vantage Motorworks. These iconic Rolls-Royce convertibles seldom come to market, especially in this condition and color combination. Because of this, I personally believe the investment potential of this extremely rare and desirable Silver Cloud II Drophead Coupe will grow beyond imagination. Offered to the most sophisticated collector, investor, or enthusiast who understands and appreciates the investment potential of this iconic Rolls-Royce convertible!
