Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is excited to present
this 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, finished in a striking House of Kolor
Ultra Orange Pearl exterior over a black interior. This 'Cuda
combines one of Mopar's most recognizable body styles with an
extensive Pro-Touring build centered around big-block power,
upgraded handling and braking, and a custom interior.
Under the hood is a 470 CID stroker V8 featuring a custom-built 950
CFM carburetor specifically set up for the engine. Supporting the
combination is a polished stainless-steel fuel tank with a stealth
electric fuel pump, braided stainless fuel lines, and a McLeod Gold
twin-disc street/strip clutch. Power is sent through a Passon 855
5-speed manual transmission to a narrowed Dana 60 rear end with
3.54 gears, a Detroit Locker, 35-spline axles, and heavy-duty
1350-series universal joints. A custom-cut TTI 3-inch stainless
exhaust system completes the performance package.
The Pro-Touring suspension incorporates AlterKtion components up
front, Street-Lynx components in the rear, and Reilly Motorsports
hardware. Viking Performance coilovers and dual-adjustable
components are joined by Wilwood performance disc brakes at all
four corners. A Hydroboost power brake system with custom stainless
lines and fittings provides braking assistance, while a custom
racing aluminum radiator with an oversized SPAL electric fan
handles cooling. The Barracuda rides on Nitto NT555 tires with
17-inch wheels up front and 18-inch wheels at the rear.
Inside, the black cabin features Pro-Touring bucket seats,
AutoMeter Pro-Comp electronic gauges, a custom dash, and center
console. One of the more distinctive details is the dash face and
console trim, which were crafted from approximately 200-year-old
mesquite wood. Brand-new factory-style front and rear door panels
complete the interior presentation. Vintage Air provides heating
and air conditioning, while power windows, power rack-and-pinion
steering, an Ididit chrome tilt steering column, and an Alpine
sound system with a built-in amplifier add modern comfort and
convenience. Limo-tinted glass completes the look.
Additional performance details include a custom aluminum
driveshaft, MSD 6AL Plus ignition box, MSD 8MM plug wires
custom-routed behind the headers for a cleaner engine bay, a
relocated battery, and a remote oil filtration system. The seller
states that the 470 CID stroker has approximately 1,000 miles on
it.
