1963 Ford Galaxie 500 XL convertible, finished in Heritage Burgundy
over a black vinyl interior, powered by the 390 four-barrel V8 with
a three-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive. Showing 31,170
miles.
XL was the top of Ford's 1963 lineup and stood for extra luxury:
bucket seats, center console, additional interior brightwork, V8
only, and the XL horn button. Ford built 18,551 XL convertibles for
1963 against 33,870 fastbacks and 29,713 notchbacks, making the
drop top roughly a quarter of XL production. The 390 four-barrel is
confirmed by the Z in the warranty number on the data tag. Paint
code X is a one-year-only formula for 1963.
Equipment includes the power convertible top, crank windows and
vent windows, fender-mounted mirror, footwell vents, heat and
defrost, and an aftermarket retro-style radio with aftermarket
speakers and an aux input. The original owner's manual and service
invoices come with the car, covering recent axle work and tires.
The top is newer with a clear vinyl rear window free of tears, and
the black vinyl interior shows light wear with no rips.
Disclosed: an exhaust leak at the manifold or collector is
scheduled for our service department, one chrome trim piece is on
order and will be installed on arrival, the clock is inoperative.
