Cruisin Classics is proud to present this 2009 Ford Mustang Shelby
GT500KR. This is the kind of Shelby that needs very little
introduction. Only 712 GT500KRs were built for the 2009 model year,
with just 223 finished in Silver Metallic with Vista Blue stripes,
making this one a pretty special combination. The GT500KR was Ford
and Shelby's "King of the Road" version of the already potent
GT500, with more power, upgraded suspension tuning, carbon-fiber
body components, a functional carbon-fiber hood, and aggressive
ground effects. This particular KR has just 7,730 actual miles,
along with a clean title and clean Carfax to back up the mileage.
The car originally came with the 18-inch Shelby forged wheels, but
the previous owner took it back to Shelby and had a set of 20-inch
Shelby forged Fifty Year wheels installed. They're wrapped in
Continental ExtremeContact Sport 2 rubber-255/35/R20 up front and a
beefy 295/30/R20 out back-which gives this car a killer stance and
really fills out the wheel wells.
Inside, it's exactly what you'd hope to find in a 7,000-mile car.
The interior looks, feels, and even smells brand new, with the
leather sport buckets, Cobra logos embroidered into the headrests,
and the light-toned gauge cluster with the center-mounted boost
gauge. The Shaker 1000 audio system is still in place, and you've
got power windows, locks, mirrors, and driver's seat, along with
ice-cold A/C and hot heat. A Ford Racing short-throw shifter and
knob have also been added, which is a nice touch when you're rowing
through the six-speed. Underneath, the KR gets the good
stuff-SVT-tuned suspension, strut tower brace, stiffer sway bars,
performance-tuned struts and shocks, and revised front and rear
springs. It also has the front brake duct cooling kit feeding the
big Brembo disc brakes. This is one of those cars where you can
tell somebody actually cared about keeping it right.
Pop the hood, and you'll find the reason these cars have such a
following: Ford's 5.4L supercharged V8, equipped with the Ford
Racing Power Package, which includes a cold-air intake, a
performance calibration, and Ford Performance mufflers with an
H-pipe. The result is 540 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque,
backed by the stout TR-6060 six-speed manual transmission, with
power put down through a 3.73 limited-slip rear axle. The GT500KR
isn't just a GT500 with some stripes and badges-it was built as the
serious, limited-production version, and this one has the miles and
the right equipment to make it even more desirable. 7,730 actual
miles, 1 of only 712 built, and only 223 in this Silver
Metallic/Vista Blue combination. If you're a Ford guy, you already
know what you're looking at here. This is the King of the Road-and
finding one this low-mileage and this well-kept is getting harder
every day.
