1980 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am in Las Vegas, Nevada

This custom 1980 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is powered by a custom-built 5.3-liter GM LS V-8 engine with Wiseco forged pistons and connecting rods, an upgraded oil pump, Stage 2 turbo camshaft and a VS Racing 78/75 single turbocharger operating at approximately 15 psi through a front-mounted intercooler. An AEM electronic boost controller manages boost, upgraded fuel injectors support the turbocharged combination and a Cold Case aluminum radiator provides cooling. During chassis dyno-tuning on 93-octane pump fuel, the combination produced approximately 600hp at the rear wheels. The fuel system is configured with E85 capability, while the car is currently tuned and operated on 93-octane pump gasoline. Power is transferred through a performance-built TH400 three-speed automatic transmission with a shift kit and upgraded billet components to a GM 10-bolt rear end with an Eaton Truetrac limited-slip differential and 3.50 gears. A 3-inch stainless-steel exhaust system is paired with complete Pro-Touring F-Body front and rear Competition Suspension packages with coilovers. The chassis also features an upgraded quick-ratio steering box. OEM-style four-wheel disc brakes provide stopping power. The body received a rotisserie restoration and is finished in Pontiac Trans Am Metallic Blue with Charcoal Gray Metallic accents inspired by the 10th Anniversary Trans Am, separated by red pinstriping. The undercarriage is finished with a sprayed bed liner coating. It rides on 18-inch Riddler wheels with 245-series front and 275-series rear performance tires. The interior features black vinyl Procar front seats, a matching upholstered rear seat and Dakota Digital instrumentation. Bad Gas Productions completed the restoration and build, which is documented through photographs and a series of videos chronicling the project through completion. It has been driven 1,500 miles since completion.
