For Sale: 2002 Ford F150 in Morgantown, Pennsylvania

Vehicle Description

2002 Ford F150 Harley Davidson Edition 4x2 Crew Cab Short Bed Pickup

"Low, loud, and menacing. That describes the unique machinery that's rolled out of Harley-Davidson for decades. Likewise, it's also an apt summary of the latest limited edition truck from Ford. H-D and Ford inked a five year plan for cooperative products starting in 2000. Since then, Ford has introduced a truck each year. Both the 2000 and '01 models were derivatives built on the F-150 platform. The '02 Edition successfully captures the spirit of Harley-Davidson: brash, strong, American." Motor Trend, Jan 2010

For consignment, a 2002 Ford F150 Harley Davidson Edition 4x2 crew cab short bed pickup with a title verified 80,298 actual miles. The license plate says it all, Quik Up, as Ford pairs this virtual Swiss Army Knife of trucks with the potent 2nd gen supercharged Lightning drivetrain.

Exterior
From first glance, it's obvious this is not the construction site version of a crew cab F150. It could be the 20-inch chrome wheels or the Harley badges on the fenders. An innocent stripe becomes a flame throwing graphic by the time it hits the bed of this Dark Shadow Gray Metallic pickup and twin pipes leave the underside with NASCAR-like aplomb. These are clues that this is something special. A step side bar is not only functional for front and rear passenger assistance but creates a bridge of chrome over the long wheelbase while full size doors render this rig an SUV with a bed! That bed enjoys a wind defying tonneau behind a sliding rear window. Up front, horizontal strakes cover top and bottom grilles and a chin spoiler takes in the fog lights in a very Lightning-esque profile. A Harley branded bug guard is a nice touch. Imperfections are few and include some very minor scratches, chips and general inclusions. No chin spoiler would be complete without a few bottom scrapes.

Interior
A two tone palette abounds on the inside where the robust door panels get perforated leather trim, molded plastic, and storage bins galore, and all four doors present nicely. Inside, tuck and roll gray leather inserts are framed in glossy charcoal leather and the all bucket seats each get a Harley badge to denote the partnership. Other than some compression, a tear, and patina creasing on the driver's seat, they're all in great shape and rear passengers also get buckets with the flame stamped center console and for 2002, a significant headphone interface and 12 volt port. A Ford Racing boost gauge rides the steering column ahead of silver faced gauges with a font and style that look like a pair of luxury watches while the center console, framed in smooth edged plastic, holds integrated AM/FM/Cassette radio and push button A/C panel. Just below it, the coveted special edition plate indicating the truck's unique number, (#212). Black carpet covers the floor and an overhead console offers multiple functions, a garage opening in the visor, and a sunroof. Inside the bed, a plastic liner protects the surface and a bed extender is poised to pivot up and out.

Drivetrain
Here's the magic, a 5.4 liter supercharged and intercooled V8, putting out an astounding 340 horsepower and sending it through the 4R100 4-speed automatic transmission. Power is routed to the burnout inducing rear axle with 3.73 gears with limited slip. The bay presents cleanly and the supercharger snout and pulley takes center stage.

Undercarriage
Some typical surface rust but otherwise clean and dry underneath where dual exhaust begins with JBA headers and finds Magnaflow mufflers, finally exiting in epic fashion through twin tips behind the right rear wheel. Power disc brakes are on all four wheels and suspension consists of coil springs up front and leaf springs in back.

Drive-Ability
The cabin is tall, airy and comfortable and for a pickup truck in 2002, luxurious! The big V8 starts quickly and we head out onto the test loop where this tall truck provides straight tracking and the typical high riding feel in turns. Needless to say, power is impressive and the supercharger whine is addictive. Stay out of boost and the 5.4 still provides plenty of useful power, more than adequate for this big rig. All functions work as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

Motor Trend summed it up pretty well: "Trucks and bikes are like former girlfriends. Just when you think you know everything about them, they change-sometimes for the better. It may be too late to kiss up to your ex, but both Ford's H-D SuperCrew and Harley-Davidson's V-Rod are making an effort to reestablish a relationship with you.". Here we have a great example of an uncommon and special performance truck for the whole family!
