DESCRIPTION:
1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria Hardtop in a two-tone Fiesta Red and white powered by a 312 cu in ‘Y’Block Ford V-8 and backed by a 2-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission. The current owner purchased the Victoria approximately 10 years ago in Carlisle, PA after it had been treated to an engine swap, new paint and interior. Even though the Ford looked good, it needed some mechanical and electrical work to make it a reliable and fun car to drive. The original mileage is believed to be what is showing, 98,000.

The engine which originally came in this car was a 292-cu. in. 4-barrel 200 horsepower V8, but it appears to have been swapped out for a 312-cu. in. motor and is running an Autolite 2-barrel carburetor. It is not known if the engine has been rebuilt, but the oil pressure is excellent, and performs well. The ignition has been changed over to a Pertronics pointless system with a matching coil. The Fairlane starts easily and idles smoothly. The dual exhaust exits through the bumpers using FlowMaster mufflers and for the ‘50’s touch, full length ‘Laker’ side pipes were added for ‘show’.
The two-speed air cooled automatic transmission shifts smoothly and to start the car it needs to be in ‘Neutral’.
The body and paint are in good condition with minor age-related issues showing. The floors in both the passenger and trunk areas are original and solid. Please view all photos carefully. Exterior chrome and stainless appear to be either replated or replaced and in good condition. All the glass is tinted and the only issue is the driver’s window having a crack (photo). The stainless hardtop door ‘flippers’ appear to work once the doors are shut tightly.
Electrically, the wiring appears original except for some newer connectors in the engine compartment. All the factory gauges function including the AM ‘tube style’ radio, vacuum wipers, and clock. Aftermarket water temperature, oil pressure, and voltmeter were also added. The brake, turn signals, headlights, and high beams all function.
The interior was reupholstered in the factory style white vinyl and cloth. There appear to be no tears or rips anywhere. The headliner is in excellent condition, and the interior courtesy lights work.
The stock suspension looks to have had new urethane bushings installed up front, with new shocks all the way around. The 15” wide white-wall tires are approximately 9 years old and show no aging issues. This Fairlane Victoria came standard with power steering and drum brakes. The brake system was serviced with a new master cylinder and brake lines.
Extra parts are included with the sale such as intake gaskets, valve cover grommets, coil, etc.
If you are looking for a great ‘50’s style ‘Cruiser’ and attention ‘getter’ at the local shows, this 1956 Victoria fits the bill.
