DESCRIPTION:
For sale by a private party is this 2-owner and very original, 1974 Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL in light blue metallic and tan leather interior with 121,000 miles. It is powered by the 4.5 L V8 rated at 222 horsepower and backed by the matching 3-speed automatic transmission. The ‘Benz is in excellent running condition and has been well maintained over the years. The current owner (2) purchased it in 1987.

In the past 11 years and 6,000 miles the car has had the following replaced; entire front and rear suspension rebuilt (including upper and lower control arms), shocks, over flow tank, Michelin tires, belts, hoses, fuel pump, alternator, brake system serviced, master cylinder, heater control valve, and tune up.
The body and paint are in good to fair condition with areas of the paint showing some aging from the sun. As far as the owner knows, only the right rear quarter panel has had any work done to it from a minor ‘fender-bender’ more than 15 years ago. There are small areas of rust and touch up but overall, the body is very solid for being 52 years old. The exterior chrome bumpers, grille, and mirrors look good. All exterior lights, turn signals, wipers, sunroof, and brake lights function. All the glass appears original and in good condition.
The interior is in excellent condition with no evidence of excessive wear, holes, or broken seams. All the factory gauges work, including the AM/FM radio. The A/C has been converted to R134 and blows cold air. The clock and power antenna do not work. All the power windows function except the right rear passenger.
As mentioned above much of the suspension and brake system has been serviced over the past years and the car rides and handles like new.
One noted issue is there appears to be an exhaust leak on the left side of the engine (see video). It doesn't seem to affect the performance of the Mercedes.
Partial records of the service performed on the car are included as well as the original owner’s manuals.
