"Named the Chevrolet Corvette, (C5), made by the Chevrolet section
of General Motors was the 5th generation of the Chevrolet Corvette
performance vehicle line - spanning from 1997 through to 2004. In
2000, Millennium Yellow was the first addition; a fitting name
considering the new millennium. In conjunction with this, the year
2000 saw the release of Dark Bowling Green Metallic. Apart from
paint color additions, the year 2000 saw no major edits to the C5.
The only notable addition was the upgrade option of the handling
package, optional to the Z51." Xtremecfm.com
For consignment, a 2000 Chevrolet Corvette convertible with a title
verified 51,044 actual miles. Don't be fooled by the conservative,
(by Corvette standards), outside color; the interior is ablaze with
the uncommon Red Torch leather option which will increase your
heart rate even more than the sexy exterior shape.
Exterior
You want a silver bullet? You got one with this stunning Silver
Metallic C5, low and wide and complemented by the black canvas top
that gently arches over the straight shouldered roadster and
steeply raked windshield. A larger rear deck affords you an actual
trunk without compromising the aerodynamics which start at the
front's rounded nose, streamlined intakes, and of course, hidden
headlights. Tires and wheels are slightly staggered with 17-inch
chrome five spokes in front and 18-inch in back. With the top down,
the profile reveals a flash of red from the seat tops, unknowingly
paying homage to some of the great silver on red sports cars in
automotive history. The rear view is distinctly Corvette with quad
tail lights over integrated splitters and central exit exhaust.
Overall the paint and body are excellent with imperfections noted
as minor scuffs, scratches and inclusions, a windshield chip, some
discoloration on a rear piece, curb rash, and chin and front
bracket scrapes.
Interior
The red doesn't hit you all at once because as you open the doors,
you'll notice a black over red motif in clean condition and
sporting red speaker covers. Turn inward and the tall leather
buckets light up in Torch Red with only a touch of wear on the
driver's side. It's accompanied by red seat belts, red carpet, and
red carpeted mats with Corvette branding. That red carpet extends
to the rear cargo area. Then, it's back to black for the steering
wheel, basic instrument cluster, dash, center stack and center
console, all in nice condition. A big buttoned AM/FM/CD/Cassette
radio and A/C panel are integrated in the center while a leather
handled shifter rises between the seats wearing a leather boot.
Drivetrain
Under the hood, a clean 5.7 LS1 V8 with 350 horsepower and the
standard red leathering somehow works better on this car! A Tremec
T56 6-speed manual transaxle keeps power to the rear axle with 3.42
gears and limited slip.
Undercarriage
Lots of aerodynamic pans underneath and all around clean
conditions. Dual exhaust runs through the original equipment
mufflers and out through black tips while disc brakes occupy all
four wheels. Suspension consists of independent unequal length
double wishbones with transverse fiberglass monoleaf springs in
front and a 5 link with toe and camber adjustment and monoleaf
springs in back.
Drive-Ability
Well kept C5's consistently deliver a great ride with plenty of
power on demand, great handling, and in this interior, an extra
burst of adrenaline! All functions on this American classic work as
they should and are ready to deliver miles of smiles to the next
owner. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were
working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these
functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
As we write this, there's still some beach time left on the East
Coast. If you're lucky enough to live in warmer climes, this car is
a guaranteed joy ride, top up or top down. The perfect coastal
cruiser, canyon carver, or cruise night contributor. You've longed
for a Corvette long enough; this very fine silver on red example is
calling your name.
