History of the 1971-1978 Cadillac Eldorado (Ninth Generation):
The ninth generation of Cadillac Eldorado is differentiated further from its E-body Oldsmobile Toronado sibling by the fact that it was available through 1976 as a convertible, as well as, two-door hardtop. The car grew in size and weight, but the 500 Cadillac motor lost horsepower every year due to ever tightening emission standards and crude emissions equipment. Performance was dulled but not ruined.
The 1972 model year had the most horsepower engine for the 1971-1978 run; making it more sought after due to having more horsepower. Also in 1973, the Eldorado received a major facelift, losing the sexiness of the 1972 model. This Cadillac is powered by its powerful 8.2 liter V8 500cid/235hp 4bbl engine. This is the biggest engine that Cadillac has ever built.
These Cadillacs were one of the most luxurious cars you could buy back in 1972. The Bodies were done by Fisher and the Interiors were done by Fleetwood and are fabulous.
