1987 Ford Mustang GT Fox-body Convertible
The 1987 Ford Mustang GT Convertible marked the beginning of the
final, more aerodynamic phase of the third-generation Fox-body
Mustang, which remained in production through 1993. For 1987, Ford
gave Mustang its most extensive update since the Fox platform
debuted in 1979, introducing flush headlights, revised bodywork, a
redesigned interior, and improved suspension tuning. The
convertible body style had returned to the Mustang lineup in 1983,
and the GT Convertible combined that open-air appeal with the
model's strongest available V8 performance. Today, it is remembered
as a distinctive late-1980s American performance car and an
important part of Fox-body Mustang history.
