For Sale: 1966 Morgan Plus 4 in Cheshire, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

The current owner of this show winning 1966 Morgan purchased the car from a woman in MA back in 2014.

He purchased it sight unseen through a connection he thought he could trust.

When the car showed up, he felt that he had been sold a pig in a poke.

While the car was presentable, it was not at the level it had been represented at. He did drive it for about a year or so before diving into a restoration to make it what he had hoped for. That process took roughly 3 years

That started by ordering an entire new tub with new ash frame. That was followed by a new steel frame, firewall and valences. When the car came apart it was discovered the Triumph TR4 sourced 4 cylinder had some issues, so a newly rebuilt one was sourced from Morgan Cars Mid-Atlantic. Quantum Mechanics supplied the rebuilt 4 speed transmission. Most other parts came through Morgan Motors of New England.

If it wasn't new, it was rebuilt and refurbished.

Some of the NEW parts :

New high volume 5 vane water pump

New aluminum radiator

New points, distributor, rotor, condenser

New twin, polished HS6 SU carbs.

New tubular, Jet coated, 4 into 1 header

New engine mounts

New stainless fasteners throughout

New fabric wrapped, correct wiring harness

New high torque starter

New Optima red top battery

New Brooklands style banjo steering wheel

New Gemmer gear reduction steering box for easier steering

New disc brakes in front and drum brakes in the rear.

New Springs and shocks, F&R

New 60 spoke wire wheels

New bushings throughout

New red leather interior - seats and all panels

New Navy blue Everflex top, tonneau and boot cover - new wind wings and side curtains.

New maple dash board, with closing glove box door.

New Carlisle Blue Metallic paint.

and .. lots more.

While the odometer shows about 10,000 miles, actual mileage since the restoration was completed is less than 1000.

This car is stunning in all ways.

There are two very small imperfections in the paint, called out in the photos.

Every surface can be eaten off of, you wouldn't dare though in fear of getting that part dirty with crumbs or a food stain.

Turn the key and the engine fires immediately to life and idles smoothly, a slight rumble/burble through the header and stainless exhaust.

The 4 speed trans shifts as it should and the car quickly reaches speeds that are just barely legal. It IS a small British car so we're not talking 90 MPH, but the torquey inline 4 feels like it's a small train pulling you up to 50-60 mph.

The steering is super crisp, the non-power brakes do take some pressure but the disc brakes bring you to a halt securely.

This Morgan Plus 4 may be one of the top ten in the country.

With that in mind, the asking price for this one of 279 1966 Morgan Plus 4's is $48,000
