This custom 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 fastback is powered by a
fuel-injected, Vortech centrifugal-supercharged 4.6-liter V-8
engine from a 2005 Ford Mustang GT, rated at 500hp and backed by a
five-speed manual transmission. It features upgraded coilovers and
suspension, long-tube headers and a custom oval stainless-steel
exhaust. Stopping is handled by a Brembo big brake kit. The build
melds a 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 fastback body with a 2006 Ford
Mustang GT foundation. The body was widened 3 inches and lengthened
approximately 8 inches, with hand-built all-metal quarter-panels,
skirts and custom wheel wells. No fiberglass was used. Additional
exterior equipment includes custom three-piece wheels. The build
incorporates a custom-fabricated cooling system with aluminum
coolant and power-steering reservoirs. Built by Jerry Madison and
425 Motorsports of Kirkland, Washington, the project took eight
years and more than 2,000 man hours to complete, including nearly
six years for the body and chassis. Components throughout this
multiple-award-winning vehicle were customized during the build.
