Gateway Classic Cars of Dallas is excited to offer this 1989 Ford
Mustang GT Coupe, a sharp Fox Body Mustang finished in Medium
Scarlet and Silver with a gray interior. Combining the unmistakable
styling of the late-1980s Mustang GT with a substantial list of
performance and handling upgrades, this Mustang offers the kind of
character and enthusiast-focused equipment that has helped make the
Fox Body generation an American performance icon.
Under the hood is the legendary 5.0-liter V8, which produced 225
horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque in stock form. This example has
been extensively upgraded with a MicroSquirt engine management
system, SVE 202/160 aluminum cylinder heads, a Ford B camshaft,
Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold, polished and powder-coated
upper intake, BBK 75mm throttle body, upgraded fuel pump and
injectors, BBK full-length headers, and a BBK catted X-pipe.
Exhaust gases continue through a Flowmaster Force II cat-back
system, giving this Fox Body an aggressive performance-oriented
personality. While these modifications may increase output beyond
factory specifications, no dyno sheet is available to verify
current horsepower.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through the desirable 5-speed
manual transmission and 3.73 rear gearing. An aluminum driveshaft
helps complement the drivetrain upgrades, while welded subframe
connectors add rigidity to the Fox Body chassis. Bilstein shocks
and struts further enhance the suspension and driving
experience.
The exterior has also received a number of carefully selected
upgrades inspired by the highly sought-after 1993 Mustang Cobra.
The car wears 17-inch Cobra-sourced wheels fitted with Michelin
Pilot tires, along with 1993 Cobra taillights, rear wing, and rear
valance. Additional exterior upgrades include a Makers Garage chin
spoiler and rear license plate backing. LED headlights and fog
lights provide a modern lighting upgrade while retaining the
classic Fox Body appearance. The seller states that the front
bumper, rear valance, rear wing, and trunk lid were repainted
following installation of the Cobra-sourced components. The Mustang
has also received two-stage paint correction and ceramic coating,
along with 360-degree ceramic window tint including the
windshield.
Inside, this Mustang retains its classic Fox Body character with
gray cloth upholstery and a driver-focused layout. Equipment
includes power windows, air conditioning, cruise control, and a
cassette player. Keyless entry is provided through Fox Locks, and
the seller reports that the air conditioning has been serviced.
Additional mechanical and electrical upgrades include an upgraded
alternator, electric cooling fan conversion, and a recently
replaced water pump. The Carfax history report documents a coolant
flush/change and water pump and water pump gasket replacement in
July 2025 at a reported 29,358 miles.
The sale includes one set of keys, two key fobs, and a car cover.
With its classic 5.0-liter V8, 5-speed manual transmission, 3.73
gears, upgraded engine management and induction components,
suspension upgrades, Cobra-inspired styling, and extensive list of
supporting modifications, this 1989 Mustang GT is an
enthusiast-built Fox Body with plenty to offer.
The Fox Body Mustang has earned legendary status among American
performance enthusiasts. Introduced in 1979 as a replacement for
the Pinto-based Mustang II, the Fox platform brought the Mustang
back toward its performance roots. The 1987 facelift gave the
Mustang a more aerodynamic appearance, an upgraded interior, and a
more powerful V8, helping establish the late Fox Body GT as one of
the defining performance cars of its era.
