This genuine 1967 Mustang K-Code is an honest, well-preserved driver that presents extremely well. While it has the appearance of a much more extensively restored car in photos, this is not a concours-quality restoration, it's a beautiful, largely original classic you can confidently drive and enjoy.
The body is solid and retains the vast majority of its original sheet metal, including the original floors throughout except for the driver and passenger front floor pans. The driver-side quarter panel has been repaired/replaced, along with previous repairs to the driver-side front of the car. The remaining original underbody still retains much of its factory red oxide finish, making this a very honest example underneath. The car was originally finished in Dark Moss Green and was repainted Candy Red approximately 20 years ago. The paint still presents very well overall with a nice shine, showing only some minor scratches and imperfections consistent with an older quality driver. The chrome, stainless trim, and aluminum moldings are all in very nice condition and complement the car exceptionally well.
Power comes from its original 289 Hi-Po V8 engine, retaining the correct Hi-Po cylinder heads, exhaust manifolds, and original dual-point distributor. While the original intake manifold and carburetor are unfortunately no longer with the car, the important core components of the original K-Code drivetrain remain intact. The engine starts easily, runs strong, and delivers the free-revving character and unmistakable sound that made the 289 Hi-Po one of Ford's most legendary small-blocks. The engine is backed by its original HEH-BX Toploader 4-speed manual transmission and a Ford 9-inch rear axle with 3.73:1 gears, making for an incredibly enjoyable driving experience.
The interior was converted from its original standard configuration to a black Deluxe interior. It is a very respectable driver-quality example and presents extremely well throughout, with only minor wear expected for a car of this age. Overall, the interior maintains the classic Mustang look and feel while offering the more upscale appearance of the Deluxe trim.
If you're searching for a freshly restored, numbers-matching concours example, this probably isn't the car for you. However, if you want a genuine 1967 K-Code Mustang retaining its original 289 Hi-Po engine, original K-Code Toploader transmission, extensive original sheet metal, and much of its untouched factory underbody finish, this is an excellent opportunity.
Finding a genuine 1967 K-Code Mustang retaining this much of its original drivetrain and sheet metal is becoming increasingly difficult. This is the kind of car that can be driven, shown, and enjoyed exactly as Ford intended.
