stockFeaturing the powerful and highly coveted 1.6L DOHC B16A2 VTEC
engine (which can produce 160 horsepower!), this sleek Honda Civic
hatchback is steady, reliable, and a whole lot of fun. Used as a
daily driver for the past two years, this cult classic is not only
reliable, but comes with extensive documentation dating back to the
date of purchase in 1998.A four-seater hatchback with two doors,
the exterior has been resprayed in Cayenne Red Metallic (Honda
color code R-505P). The rear bench folds down, extending the trunk
for extra storage. The interior upholstery is entirely original and
like new, with the original Civic branded carpeted floor mats. A
moonroof is set into the gray headliner, as are dual interior dome
lights. Sun visors fold down to reveal vanity mirrors, and the
dashboard retains the factory cassette player and AM/FM radio, a
12v power outlet, and two ash trays - just in case. These were the
Civics that defined Honda's tuning culture reputation thanks to the
introduction of Variable Valve Timing & Lift Electronic Control
(VTEC), which allowed the B16A2 to achieve 100hp/liter at 160hp out
of a 1.6L engine - a tale tell of Honda's efficient cylinder head
design that allowed small engines to move enough air for such high
specific-output. This was something Honda began achieving in 1979
with their DOHC CB motorcycle engines, and those engineering
lessons carried over to the B16A's port design. The B16A was the
first Honda engine to adopt VTEC, and it defined the Civic's battle
cry past 5500 RPM, where the high-lift cam lobes come into play and
the engine note changes into a throatier roar as it pulls harder to
its 8,000 RPM redline. It's a unique driving experience largely
lost to today's more advanced variable cam systems that smooth out
this transition to the point of subtlety. With over $6,500 in
service performed by Car Cave over the past two years, including
multiple documented oil changes; a rear hatch hardware swap; a
spark plug, timing belt, valve cover gasket, and starter update; a
speed sensor swap; and a clutch refresh, including a new slave
cylinder and clutch master cylinder. This vehicle was owned by a
member of our Car Cave team, and comes with extensive
documentation. The people who know, know that a Honda Civic like
this is a once-in-a-lifetime find. The repainted exterior and
documented mechanical updates means that this twenty-eight year old
vehicle looks and feels like it drove off the lot
yesterday.FeaturesAir ConditioningNEXEN NPRIZ AH6 P195/55R15 87V
