Updated with Turn Signals The 1931 Chevrolet Series AE Independence
is a classic American car with a 109-inch wheelbase and a
194-cubic-inch "Stovebolt" inline-six engine producing 50
horsepower. It replaced the 1930 Series AD Universal, helping
Chevrolet reclaim first place in U.S. car sales during the Great
Depression. Historical Significance Despite economic hardships of
the era, Chevrolet produced over 623,000 units of the Independence
in 1931. On August 25, 1931, the company celebrated its 8-millionth
overall vehicle production milestone. Today, surviving models are
prized by collectors and are frequently found in original restored
condition or occasionally reimagined as hot rods. -- This item is a
