GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1956 Chevrolet Corvette
for your consideration. This Corvette comes in the iconic Polo
White exterior over a beautifully reupholstered Red interior.
Powering this Corvette is a 265 cubic inch Dual Carb V8 paired with
a 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. This Corvette is a
numbers-matching example and has been garage-kept throughout its
life. It features a manual convertible soft top, white wall tires
that were replaced approximately four years ago, a newer exhaust
system, a spacious trunk, and comes complete with a car cover. In
2023, the Powerglide transmission was gone through and rebuilt. The
sale also includes numerous invoices, owner's manuals, and
additional documentation. This is a well-preserved example of
Chevrolet's legendary first-generation sports car that has clearly
been well cared for over the years. Drive this one out of our
showroom or have us assist with shipping it to you anywhere in the
United States! Don't hesitate to call us with any questions or for
more information.
The 1956 Chevrolet Corvette was part of the first-generation
Corvette, known as the C1, which debuted in 1953. For 1956,
Chevrolet introduced a significant redesign that gave the Corvette
a more refined and sporting appearance, including a new front end,
sculpted fenders, and roll-up windows. The 265 cubic inch V8 was
the standard powerplant, with a dual-carburetor setup available for
buyers seeking additional performance. The 1956 Corvette helped
establish the model as a serious American sports car while
retaining the distinctive styling that would become synonymous with
the Corvette name. Today, the 1956 model is highly regarded by
collectors for its classic styling, V8 performance, and place in
the early history of America's longest-running sports car.
