1930 Ford Model A Sport Coupe Hot Rod
This 1930 Ford Model A Sport Coupe combines unmistakable early-Ford character with a thoughtfully built traditional hot-rod chassis and drivetrain.
Unlike a roadster or cabriolet, the Sport Coupe was built with a fixed roof structure covered in fabric, giving it the appearance of a soft top while retaining a permanent coupe body. It is one of the more distinctive Model A body styles and makes an especially striking foundation for a period-inspired hot rod.
The body retains what appears to be substantial original Henry Ford steel. With portions of the interior currently removed, the factory-style inner quarter panels, wheelhouses, door structures, braces, seams, and other early body construction are readily visible. The firewall and other areas have been modified in connection with the hot-rod build, so the car is not represented as an untouched original body.
Finished in bright red with contrasting black chassis components, the Ford sits on polished wheels with BFGoodrich tires and has the low, purposeful stance expected of a traditional hot rod.
Underneath, the car has been extensively upgraded. The rear suspension incorporates adjustable coilovers with locating links, while a custom dual exhaust system runs beneath the car through a pair of mufflers. The underside presents well and provides a clear look at the workmanship incorporated into the build.
The cabin carries the traditional hot-rod theme with a painted steel dashboard, aftermarket instrumentation, floor-mounted shifter, custom steering wheel, and steel seat frames. Portions of the interior are presently disassembled, providing unusually good visibility of the body structure and construction.
Additional exterior details include period-style lighting and extensive brightwork.
This is not a fiberglass-bodied reproduction masquerading as an old Ford. It presents as a genuine early Ford Sport Coupe body that has been transformed into a traditional-style hot rod while retaining much of the character that makes an original Model A body desirable.
