This 1949 Ford pustom Pickup is powered by a 6.0-liter Power Stroke
turbo-diesel V-8 engine paired with a 5R110W five-speed automatic
transmission and New Process 205 dual-range transfer case. The
drivetrain includes an aluminum radiator, aftermarket intercooler
and intake system, aluminum fuel tank and narrowed dual-wheel rear
axle assembly with 4.10:1 gears. The chassis was reinforced and is
equipped with polished 4-inch stainless-steel exhaust.
Power-assisted disc brakes are fitted at all four wheels.
Originally configured as a 28-foot stake bed fruit truck, the Ford
was customized with an 8-foot varnished oak-lined bed and dual rear
axle. The body was stripped from the frame to bare metal, rust was
repaired and the exterior was painted Hunter Green. Exterior
details include a chrome grille, black bumpers and side steps, dual
side mirrors, replaced glass and weatherstripping, American Force
19.5-inch alloy wheels and 245/70 Continental Conti Tierra HD3
tires. The bed is lined with varnished oak planks and polished
runners. The cab features a reupholstered bench seat in brown
leather with a matching headliner, kick panels and sun visors.
Additional interior equipment includes sound-damping material
throughout the cab, under-dash air conditioning, woven carpeting,
electric windshield wipers, power door locks, an alarm system and
rear-view camera. A Kenwood touchscreen stereo with a
power-retractable screen is mounted beneath a chrome Ford-branded
dash plate and connected to three amplifiers and a JL Audio sound
system with a fabricated speaker enclosure and three subwoofers
behind the seat. A stainless-steel shifter is fitted to the
steering column. The refreshed instrument panel is equipped with
stock-style AutoMeter instrumentation, including an 80-mph
speedometer and gauges.
