If that look of the Tri-Five Chevrolet era is how you roll, you are
going to appreciate the work that has gone into this special 1956
210-series sedan. Long a staple of the Hot Rodding scene, this car
now hosts a plethora of upgrades and is optioned with well-chosen
components, beginning with its classic Chevrolet 350 CI V-8 engine.
Equipped with an uncluttered, tall-element air cleaner and matched
chrome valve covers, the power plant retains cast-iron exhaust
manifolds for quiet operation, an aluminum intake for the 4-barrel
carburetor, an electric fan in front of the radiator and serpentine
belt-driven accessories. This is backed by a 3-speed automatic
transmission. Further changes to its underpinnings include the
lowered suspension, and this car hosts both updated power steering
and a front disc brake conversion equipped with vacuum power assist
as well. The mid-level model between the base 150 and Bel Air
Chevrolet platforms, the 210 replaced the Styleline starting in
1953 and was discontinued after 1957 when the redesigned platform
was renamed Biscayne.
On this car, there is gorgeous custom two-tone blue paintwork,
highlighted by the 210s modest chrome trim. The classic bumper
designs have worked-in chrome guards with some mild blending from
stock. Inside is a matching cloth bench seat interior, which is now
retrofitted with a digital stereo, the tilt steering column
supporting a custom two-spoke soft-grip wheel, Chevrolet Bowties
carefully embroidered into the seat uppers, the custom column
shifter and OEM-themed instrument panel. Upon opening the decklid,
one finds both a covered spare and an upholstered trunk. Other
outside cues are the trademark Chevrolet-name script emblems on the
rear fenders and factory V-crest insignia on the hood and decklid,
the full length side chrome that descends to the bumper line and
centered hood trim. The final touch on this build is a set of
modern custom 20-inch five-spoke chrome wheels and low-profile
radial tires, making the impression of 21st century Hot Rodding
even more evident. This Chevy 210 remains a staple of the Bowtie's
automotive heritage.
