This 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS is finished in Silver Blue Poly with
a white leather interior, white vinyl top, and Foose 22 inch
wheels, and it has been built from the ground up into one of the
most comprehensively sorted restomod builds you will find on a
first-generation SS. The 1964 was the final year of the
fourth-generation body style and is widely regarded as the most
desirable of the era, with cleaner, more streamlined styling than
the heavier sculpting of 1963. It was also the first year the SS
graduated from an options package into its own distinct Chevrolet
model, a status change that gave it unique exterior badging, SS
wheel covers, bucket seats, and a center console that no lesser
Impala could match. Under the hood is a new 502 cubic inch crate
V8, the biggest small block Chevrolet produces, backed by a built
4L80E automatic transmission and a Circle D Specialties triple disc
billet 2800 stall torque converter. The firewall has been smoothed
and embossed with the Impala logo, and the engine bay is finished
to a level that matches the rest of the build.
Chevrolet sold over 889,000 Impalas in 1964 alone, with 185,325 of
those carrying the SS badge, making it the best-selling performance
model in the country that year. The full-size B-body platform the
SS rode on was the same chassis Chevrolet used across the entire
Impala lineup, giving the Super Sport the structural solidity of a
full-size car with the bucket seat, console, and performance trim
that separated it from everything below it in the range. That
platform has proven to be one of the most receptive foundations for
the kind of comprehensive restomod build this car has received.
The drivetrain and chassis work is thorough and documented. Block
Hugger headers, Doug Herbert full roller rockers, Howards hydraulic
roller camshaft with matching springs, March billet pulley system,
and three inch aluminized exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers handle
the power side. A polished Holley Terminator X Max EFI system with
a Holley Sniper billet distributor and polished Edelbrock intake
billet covers manage the fuel delivery. A Ron Davis aluminum
radiator with matching fans and shroud, AutoPlumb steel braided
radiator hoses, Scott Drake electric brake booster, new master
cylinder kit, Corvette front and rear disc brakes with front
spindles, and Black Magic adjustable rear link bars with adjustable
wishbones handle the cooling, braking, and suspension. The AccuAir
e-Level air ride management system with ENDO-VT air tank, hardlined
Air Lift 2600 air bags, and custom trunk-mounted VIAIR 485c
polished compressors give this car the stance control to match
everything else about it. American Autowire 21 circuit body
harness, new batteries, and a new alternator mean the electrical
foundation is as sorted as the rest of the build.
Inside, the white leather interior is clean with a Dakota Digital
RTX dash giving you a complete modern gauge cluster in a
period-correct layout, Lokar billet pedals, and Vintage Air Gen IV
climate control. The smoothed and embossed firewall is visible
through the firewall and ties the exterior presentation all the way
through the engine bay.
A 1964 Impala SS built to this level in Silver Blue Poly with white
leather and a white vinyl top is the kind of car that wins shows
and drives every bit as well as it looks. The build quality speaks
for itself.
