1948 Ford F-1 Custom Western Hauler
350 V8 • Turbo 400 Automatic • Power Steering • Power Disc Brakes
This 1948 Ford F-1 is anything but your typical restored pickup. Built with a unique Western Hauler-style setup, custom paint, modernized running gear, and plenty of attitude, this one-of-a-kind Ford combines classic postwar styling with the drivability and stance of a custom-built cruiser.
The body is finished in a striking deep metallic red with custom black fade accents, gold pinstriping, and hand-laid custom graphics throughout. The paintwork carries into the hood, doors, cab, and rear hauler bed, giving the entire truck a cohesive custom appearance. Chrome trim, polished wheels, dual mirrors, auxiliary front lights, and a lowered stance complete the look.
Under the hood is a mild-built Chevrolet 350 cubic-inch V8 that runs strong and is paired with a freshly rebuilt Turbo 400 automatic transmission. Power steering and power-assisted front disc brakes make this vintage Ford considerably easier and more enjoyable to drive than a stock 1948 pickup.
The truck is reportedly mounted on a later-model one-ton chassis, believed to be a Dodge one-ton frame, providing a heavier-duty foundation beneath the vintage Ford body. The custom Western Hauler bed is finished with extensive polished diamond plate, integrated rear fenders, custom taillights, mud flaps, a receiver hitch, and a large diamond-plate storage/tool box behind the cab.
Inside, the original-style Ford dashboard has been updated while retaining much of its vintage character. The truck features aftermarket auxiliary gauges, an upgraded steering wheel, floor-mounted automatic shifter, modern stereo, carpeting, and a custom black leather seating arrangement with integrated seat belts. The combination gives the interior a comfortable driver-oriented feel without taking away from the character of the original cab.
