ORIGINAL PAINT! We did it again. We dug up another very original, two family owned preservation cars.
Sold new at Bergen Auto Company in Rutherford NJ on September 19th, 1953 for a whopping $2,758. The original owner, Frederick Jordon passed away early in his ownership so his widow took over the family driving. She drove the car somewhat sparingly and kept it garaged until her passing in 1976. It was then taken over by another family member who let the car sit in a dry garage for many many years. Fast forward to 2011 when that family member passed and once again, ANOTHER family member took possession of the car. They then spent a lot of money bringing the car back to turn key, drivable condition (brakes, cooling and fuel systems as well as a transmission clutch and re-seal). Also then having the interior redone with period and very correct fabrics. It looks amazing still! Like new actually. It was brought to many local car shows then and rarely came away without a trophy.
More recently all four tires have been replaced with reproduction, correct and expensive Coker Classics. The car is very turn key and a very nice driver.
This is an extremely cool looking car with that Riviera hardtop styling. It's a Special so it's actually smaller than it's bigger brothers, the Super and the Roadmaster so a little easier to handle.
Under the hood is the overhead valve straight eight motor Buick had been using for a very long time. This would be the last model that engine would be placed in before being completely replaced with the V8 in 1954. As mentioned, you get a super easy to shift (replacement clutch) three speed manual, column shifted transmission.
Such a great car. It brings a smile to my face every day. This one has a note on it with JJ Best so there will be a 10-15 day wait for the clean Massachusetts title to be released upon payment.
