Exceptional restoration: the final year of the Porsche 356SC
Cabriolet, finished in Black with a Red leather interior, red
carpets, a black convertible top, and a boot cover. Delivered to
the first owner, Mr. Perry from Birmingham, Alabama, through Brumos
Porsche in Jacksonville, Florida, and accompanied by the factory
Kardex, this Cabriolet retains its matching-numbers SC engine. As
the final and most developed evolution of the 356 line, the SC
combined four-wheel disc brakes, an improved transmission, and the
95-horsepower engine, making it the most drivable pushrod-powered
356.
From 2023 to 2024, this 356SC Cabriolet was completely restored by
European Collectibles. The restoration was performed to a high
standard throughout, with every major aspect of the 356 addressed,
including bodywork, paint, upholstery, drivetrain, suspension,
braking system, electrical components, trim, and final assembly.
The 356 was completely disassembled; the body was stripped to
steel, prepped, painted, color-sanded, glazed, and finished in
Black to show condition.
The interior has been upholstered in red leather with red carpets,
creating a striking contrast against the black exterior. Interior
details include roll-up windows, vent windows, headrests, Blaupunkt
AM/FM radio, padding, headliner, and a properly finished black
convertible top. The exterior is complemented by a chrome luggage
rack, brightwork, chrome rims and hubcaps, and carefully fitted
rubber components, all of which contribute to the presentation.
Mechanically, powered by the matching 1.6-liter SC air-cooled
flat-four engine (Type 616/16) producing 95 horsepower and paired
with its rebuilt factory replacement 4-speed manual transmission
(Type 741) and four-wheel disc braking system. The engine and
transmission have been completely rebuilt. The braking system,
suspension, and fuel system were restored, ensuring the 356SC
performs with the confidence expected of a freshly completed
restoration. With just 675 miles recorded since completion, this
356SC is in exceptional condition. The 356SC Cabriolet delivers the
refined, engaging character that defines the final year of the 356.
Complete with owner's manual and pouch, tool kit, jack, and Porsche
Kardex, this Black over Red 356SC Cabriolet represents a rare
opportunity to acquire a freshly restored, final-year Cabriolet
restored by European Collectibles to concours standard.
