public at the Paris Auto Salon in 1962, the Silver Cloud III is the
final variant of Rolls-Royce's ultra-high end sedan and offers the
highest performance of the three generations, paired with
exceptional luxury. This example has unrivaled ownership history,
purchased new by the consignor's grandfather in 1964 it has been in
the family since.Finished in Shell Grey over Beige leather, the
third generation Silver Cloud can be identified by its quad front
headlights and a slightly increased slope on the hood. This example
presents in excellent condition, finished in a subtle, yet elegant
shade of silver/grey which pairs nicely with the 15-inch polished
Rolls-Royce hub caps wrapped in white wall tires. Of course, the
centerpiece of any Rolls exterior is the large waterfall grille,
topped by the famed Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament, which still
retains its brilliant shine.Inside, supple Beige leather wraps the
front and rear seats, as well as the door cards making this car
feel as luxurious as the day it rolled off the factory floor. Dark
veneered wood covers the entire dashboard, as well as the door caps
and window surrounds on the doors, continuing the upscale look and
feel. In front of the driver sits a large 3-spoke steering wheel
that frames a 120 mph speedometer, with HVAC controls to the right
of it. Power windows are fitted around the car, and Rolls-Royce
signature picnic tables are installed in the front seat
backs.Powering the Silver Cloud III is a 6.2-liter V8 that was
slightly upgraded with the introduction of the third generation
car. Of course, in this era, Rolls Royce never declared official
power figures for their vehicles, citing that they were simply
"adequate." Power is then sent through a GM Hydramatic gearbox to
the rear wheels. Three years ago, the car underwent a significant
service, totalling more than $14,000 by Mile High Classics in
Denver, Colorado to ensure it is in good driving condition.Even
more than 60 years after its production, the Silver Cloud is still
seen as a symbol of high-class luxury and there is a good reason
for that. With impeccable build quality, excellent interior
appointments and a stout powertrain, these cars were built to be
used and enjoyed by the well-heeled. This example is one of a kind
thanks to its single family ownership and represents a unique
opportunity to become essentially, the second owner of a true
classic.----For more information on this 1964 Rolls-Royce Silver
