1971 Chevrolet Chevelle

One of the most successful nameplates for Chevrolet has to be the classic Chevelle. It was introduced in the mid 60's to fill the gap between the Chevy II and full sized models but later became their entry into the battle of muscle cars. They received multiple redesigns throughout their run with pretty significant ones arriving in 1969 for the 2nd generation. These years were marketed as "America's most popular mid-size car" and are very popular in the classic car world. This 1971 is a clean example that was frame off restored in 2000 and has had 21,381 miles put on it since. It is in great shape and shows well in its burnt Orange metallic paint with dual Black racing stripes. This year had the single headlights and double taillights all of which are working properly. The chrome bumpers and trim all look good and the car wears SS badging. The VIN decodes properly but without a factory build sheet we can't say for certain whether it is a true Super Sport. The glass is all good throughout with no chips or scratches. It has the cowl induction hood and the cowl does work properly. The car sits on 15 inch Eagle Alloy wheels with Mastercraft Avenger G/T tires (P215/70R15-front, P275/60R15-rear).

During the restoration the 355 ci motor was fully rebuilt and the car has continued to receive regular maintenance since. It is a blue printed and balanced engine that features a 4 bolt main block, 10-10 forged steel crank, 10 to 1 pop up pistons, Crane Fireball 296-302 cam, Crane springs, Crane lifters, Crane rockers, Pete Jacksons gear drive, Dart II 202 heads, Manley valves, Holley Contender intake, Holley 650 cfm carburetor, HEI distributor, Chevrolet valve covers, and Chevrolet air cleaner. It runs great, starts right up and doesn't smoke. It is a healthy motor and sounds good with Headman headers into dual Flowmaster mufflers. Backing it up is the Turbo 400 automatic transmission with a 3000-3500 TCI stall that sends power back to the posi 3:42 12 bolt rear end. In 2020 the car had documented rear end work for the gear change and at the time got a new ring gear, pinion, right axle seal, left axle seal/bearing as well as 2 new rear air shocks. It has power steering and power brakes (disc front) so is a smooth car to cruise around in.

Inside the car is done in Black upholstery and is in great condition. It is done in the stock style with dual bucket seats with headrests on each side of the factory center console with horseshoe shifter. The Black dash pad is in good condition and the dash features all of its original gauges and controls. Other nice features include the 4 spoke SS steering wheel, adjustable side mirror and Chevrolet push button stereo. The trunk has plenty of storage space and houses a spare and jack.

This is a nice, solid, great driving car and is being offered up at a very reasonable price.
