Survivor Classic Car Services Chicago is proud to present this
beautifully restored 1961 Mercedes-Benz 190SL. Under the hood is a
sporty 1.9L inline 4-cylinder engine paired to a 4-speed manual
transmission sending power to the rear wheels. The Mercedes was
recently serviced to be prepared to sale. This SL has gone through
a mechanical and cosmetic restoration including a repaint, fresh
interior, fresh tires, steering linkage overhaul, new timing chain,
and a plethora of other items. Most recently, the engine oil,
coolant, and fuel was flushed, and the fuel tank was replaced. The
SL was brought to Illinois in 2014 from California. At that time,
prior to the aforementioned work, it was inspected and given a 4.3
our of 5 rating by an independent inspector!
Included with the car is the attached soft convertible top, a
removable hard top & stand, and paperwork history from 2014. This
Benz starts easy with a little bit of choke, finds idle quickly,
and loves winding out the gears! The transmission shifts smoothly
From gear to gear with positive engagement. The clutch holds strong
with no signs of slippage or abuse. The suspension is firm, but
compliant, and wont bounce you around like a pogo stick. Although
it is only rated at 105 horsepower, with a weight of just over
2,500lbs, this nimble convertible can cut corners and stop on a
dime! This well kept and well restored classic SL is a beautiful
addition to any collection, or an excellent Sunday cruiser. Das
