1957 Chevrolet El Morocco - The customizing of Chevrolets to resemble the then current model Cadillacs was the vision of Detroit industrialist Rube Allender. Mid year 1956, Allender & Co. designed and built perhaps as many as 10, 1956 El Morocco's by customizing the Chevrolet with fiberglass tail fins and extensive custom mouldings. The result was the look of a scaled down 1956 Eldorado. In November of 1957 Allender began designing the '57 Bel-Airs to resemble the '57 Cadillac Eldorado Broughams. Extensive customizing included metal fabricated tail fins, flattening the hood, eliminating front fender louvers, grille replacement, extensive side trim, and a complete rear bumper treatment. The hardtop models' roofs were painted silver to resemble the stainless steel Cadillac Brougham roof. Chevrolet and Bel Air scripts were replaced by "El Morocco" emblems. Estimates for production of the '57s is 10 to 40 units; only 4 four-door hardtops are believed still be in existence today. Total '57s known to exist today is 12.
This car has undergone a complete body-off frame restoration to exacting detail of all Chevrolet and El Morocco elements. The chassis and underbody are finished as nicely as the top side. The restoration was done by professional experienced craftsmen who have produced many award-winning show cars.
