1960 Ford Galaxie Starliner For Sale This 1960 Ford
Galaxie Starliner is a restored and modified example of a body
style Ford offered for only two model years. The VIN decodes as an
Atlanta-built car that left the plant with the 352 four-barrel V8,
and it has since been reworked with a larger FE and a manual
driveline. It is finished in burnt orange with a contrasting dark
roof, and the exterior detail work includes Kindig-It door handles
frenched into the body for an uninterrupted door skin.Power now
comes from a 390 FE V8, the larger-displacement descendant of the
352 this car was born with and a natural fit within the same engine
family. It breathes through an Edelbrock intake manifold and an
Edelbrock AVS2 carburetor, a well-matched combination that favors
street drivability and straightforward tuning. Behind it is a Ford
Toploader four-speed manual, sending power to a 3.56-geared rear
end. That ratio was a factory-listed option in 1960, and paired
with the Toploader it gives the car strong response off the line
without making highway cruising a chore.Braking has been updated to
front discs with rear drums, a meaningful improvement over the
original four-wheel drum setup and the kind of change that makes a
car of this size and weight far more usable on modern roads. The
Starliner sits on 17-inch American Racing wheels. Inside, the black
interior is in excellent condition, with seats and carpet that show
no meaningful wear. A digital dash replaces the original
instrumentation, a Grant steering wheel sits ahead of the driver,
and a Sony head unit with Bluetooth handles audio. The Starliner
name is what makes this car worth seeking out. Ford completely
restyled its full-size line for 1960, and the Starliner's low
fastback roof was the aerodynamic answer to NASCAR's superspeedways
at a time when stock car bodies genuinely were stock. Ford
abandoned the roofline after 1961 in favor of a squared-off formal
hardtop, then tried to recover the advantage with the bolt-on
Starlift roof, which NASCAR disallowed. That leaves 1960 and 1961
as the only two years this shape was available, and the 1960 body
is a one-year design distinct from the 1961 restyle. Between the
roofline, the FE and Toploader combination, and the custom
bodywork, this is a Starliner built to be driven rather than
parked.NFI Empire specializes in classic, exotic, modified, and
