This is a well-proven combination and a sensible one for a car of this weight: the 383's added stroke gives it low-end torque that a 350 has to work for, the TH350 keeps the driveline compact and serviceable, and the 3.54 ratio favors acceleration and around-town driving over long-legged highway cruising. Braking has been updated with front discs, with drums retained at the rear.The car sits 3 inches lower on the factory frame, which keeps the original chassis intact while getting the body down where a Merc is supposed to sit.
