1994 Pontiac Firebird SLP Firehawk For Sale This 1994
Pontiac Firebird Firehawk is the genuine article: a factory Formula
that left Pontiac's Sainte-Therese line and was converted by Street
Legal Performance under the R6V option code, the same code visible
on this car's service parts sticker. That documentation matters on
a Firehawk, since the package was a low-volume special order and
clones are common. This one wears SLP build number 139 and shows
roughly 56,000 miles, finished in red over a gray interior. Only
about 500 Firehawks were built for 1994, all of them Formulas. At
the center is the 5.7L LT1 V8, rated here at 315 horsepower. That
figure reflects the SLP Performance Exhaust upgrade, which added 15
horsepower over the standard 300-horsepower Firehawk tune through
its stainless components, larger intermediate pipe, and
freer-flowing muffler. Power runs through a four-speed automatic
(4L60E) to a limited-slip rear end, so the car puts its power down
cleanly rather than spinning one wheel. For reference, a standard
1994 Formula made 275 horsepower, so the Firehawk treatment is a
meaningful step up, not a badge job.The Firehawk package carried
SLP's sport-tuned suspension over the already-capable Formula
chassis, giving the car the flatter, more planted feel that set
these apart from a standard V8 Firebird. Inside, it has the
removable T-top roof panels along with the securing storage in the
hatch to hold them when they're out. The gray interior is anchored
by an aftermarket Sony head unit in the dash. It reads as what it
is: an early-'90s performance Pontiac built for the driver, not
dressed up beyond its era.The Firehawk occupies a specific place in
F-body history. Beginning in 1991 and running through the fourth
generation, SLP partnered with Pontiac to build these Formula-based
specials, and for 1993 through 1996 the Firehawk was offered only
on the Formula, never the Trans Am. That makes a documented,
low-mileage 1994 car like this one one of the more collectible ways
into the LT1 era, and a genuinely rare alternative to the far more
common Formula and Trans Am it's often mistaken for.NFI Empire
