GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this exceptional 1984
Oldsmobile Cutlass Hurst Edition. Representing the 15th Anniversary
of the legendary Hurst-Oldsmobile partnership, this Hurst Edition
combines classic rear-wheel-drive performance with unmistakable
1980s styling and one of the most unique shifter setups ever
offered.
Power comes from a 5.0L V8 producing 190 horsepower, paired with an
automatic transmission sending power to the rear wheels. What truly
sets the Hurst Edition apart from a standard Cutlass, however, is
the iconic Hurst Lightning Rod shifter system. These unique
shifters provide a clutchless, manual-like driving experience,
allowing the driver to control the timing of upshifts and
downshifts while still using an automatic transmission.
The Hurst Edition wears the highly desirable black exterior with
silver lower bodywork and red striping, complemented by an
excellent original red cloth interior with woodgrain accents and an
analog dashboard. Equipment includes power steering, power brakes,
air conditioning, cruise control, tilt steering, AM/FM cassette,
power driver's seat, power trunk release, clock, power antenna,
dual mirrors with inside adjustment, and the highly desirable Hurst
T-Tops.
Thanks to consistent care, limited use, and proper storage, this
Hurst Olds remains in excellent original condition. The paint
presents beautifully, the original cloth interior remains
exceptionally well preserved, and the engine compartment is clean
and detailed. Mechanically, the car remains very fit and is an
absolute blast to drive.
The 1980s were a strange time for American performance cars. The
glory days of the muscle car era were fading into the past, while
manufacturers focused increasingly on fuel economy, front-wheel
drive, fuel injection, and electronic technology. The Hurst Olds
bucked that trend.
Created to celebrate the 15-year relationship between Hurst and
Oldsmobile, the 1984 Hurst Oldsmobile took a back-to-basics
approach with body-on-frame construction, control-arm front
suspension, a powerful V8, and a live rear axle. Each car was built
in Lansing, Michigan, before being shipped to Cars and Concepts for
the Hurst modifications.
The result was a performance car that captured the spirit of an
earlier era while delivering the unique styling and technology of
the 1980s. With its limited production, distinctive Hurst features,
excellent originality, and documented history, the 1984 Hurst Olds
has become a highly desirable future classic.
This example presents an excellent opportunity to own a
well-preserved piece of Oldsmobile and Hurst history.
